چکیده
We show that gravitational wave astronomy has the potential to inform us on quantum aspects of black holes. Based Bekenstein's quantization, we find hole area discretization could impart observable imprints signal from a pair merging holes, affecting their absorption properties during inspiral and late-time relaxation after merger. In contrast with previous results, rotation, ubiquitous in astrophysics, improves our ability probe effects. Our analysis shows echoes suppressed tidal heating are signs new physics which fundamental can be measured, within reach future detectors. results also highlight need derive predictions specific gravity proposals.

An interferometric gravitational wave detector as a quantum-gravity apparatus
As a consequence of the extreme precision of the measurements it performs, a LIGO/VIRGO-type interferometric gravitational wave detector (IGWD) is a macroscopic apparatus for which quantum effects are not negligible. We observe that this property of IGWDs can be exploited to probe some aspects of the interface between Quantum Mechanics and Gravity. In particular, we find that IGWDs can test two...
متن کاملLoop quantum gravity corrections to gravitational wave dispersion
Cosmological tensor perturbations equations are derived for Hamiltonian cosmology based on Ashtekar’s formulation of general relativity, including typical quantum gravity effects in the Hamiltonian constraint as they are expected from loop quantum gravity. This translates to corrections of the dispersion relation for gravitational waves. The main application here is the preservation of causalit...
متن کاملExperimental Signatures of Quantum Gravity
I review several different calculations, coming from string theory, nonperturbative quantum gravity and analyses of black holes that lead to predictions of phenomena that would uniquely be signatures of quantum gravitational effects. These include: 1) deviations from a thermal spectra for evaporating black holes, 2) upper limits on the entropy and energy content of bounded regions, 3) suppressi...
متن کاملGravitational Wave Signatures of Superdense Objects in a Nonsingular Solution of Gravity Theory
A massive gravitationally bound object with a radius r ≤ 2GM/c 2 , which occurs in the non-singular version of the nonsymmetric gravitational theory (NGT), replaces the black hole in Einstein gravity theory. This object is kept stable by the attractive and repulsive forces generated by NGT, as well as standard matter pressures, and is called a superdense object (SDO). The luminosity of gravitat...
